Mouse Exterminator Program
As the General Manager of Aspen Pest, I’ve seen countless homeowners try to tackle a rodent problem with a one-time service or DIY methods. Here is the blunt truth: rodent proofing a house is impossible. Rodents are going to find a way in—they can tunnel under the foundation or find tiny entry points. That’s why the most effective approach is a consistent, proactive one.
The Problem with One-Time Rodent Services
We simply do not offer one-time services for rodents because they will reoccur. You can remove an existing population, but if you don’t stop the constant outside pressure from new rodents, you’re back to square one in a few months. Our goal is to control the population and prevent them from ever establishing themselves in your home, which requires a long-term strategy.
Our Quarterly Rodent Maintenance Program
The best solution we offer is a maintenance program, typically starting around $130 quarterly. It is an all-inclusive service that focuses on both removal and prevention:
-
Continuous Monitoring and Maintenance: This includes coming out between quarters at no charge for ongoing issues. The quarterly checkups include resetting traps or restocking secure bait stations.
-
External Bait Stations: We place bait both outside and inside, placed in secure, weighted, and locked stations to prevent access by pets, children, or other wildlife. These black boxes have tier one dog proof security and rods that hold the bait securely. Continuous external bait monitoring is crucial to dissuade them from entering the home.
-
Identifying and Eliminating Conducive Conditions: These services focus on identifying and eliminating attractants like food sources, such as bird feeders or trash piles.
-
Sealing Entry Points: We seal entry points, especially into the crawl space through vents or unsealed lines.
When to Call a Professional Mouse Exterminator or Rat Exterminator
Don’t wait for a full-blown infestation. You should call a professional pest control service as soon as an issue is suspected. This includes seeing droppings, a physical rodent, smelling something unusual, or hearing noises in the walls.
If you try DIY trapping first, you run the risk of the rodents developing “trap shyness”. This approach was successful in one instance, but it was much more tedious and expensive for the customer and required a second trapping process.
